We would like to inform you that the Administrator of your personal data is the Main Medical Library with its registered office in Warsaw, 22 Chocimska Street.

In order to further protect your personal data, a specially appointed Data Protection Team, comprising a Data Protection Officer, a representative of the Human Resources Department and an Information Systems Security Administrator, oversees the processing of your personal data.
We process personal data in accordance with the law and only to the extent that it is needed, and by providing appropriate administrative and technical facilities we ensure its confidentiality and security.
The activities of our Library require the processing of information relating to, among other things:
- name
- places of residence
- professions
- dates and places of birth
- email address
- telephone number
- the IP address of your device
- data obtained through cookies or similar mechanisms for storing information in your device, insofar as they allow you to be identified
We will process personal data, among other things:
- with your respective consent
- when there is a legal basis for doing so, such as the Library Act
- when required by a legitimate interest such as ensuring the security of Library property and staff
- when we carry out your order concerning, for example, subject orders or the copying of library material
We mainly process your personal data in order to provide you with access to the collection of the Main Medical Library and, in accordance with the provisions of the Library Act, to ensure its security. In addition, we process personal data in order to fulfil orders and contracts, to ensure the security of the Main Medical Library's property and staff, or, for example, to respond to your enquiries sent via the contact form and email, or to carry out measurements of your visits to our service.
Your personal data may be made available to other entities. In any such case, the transfer of data does not entitle the recipient to use the data freely, but only for the purposes expressly indicated by the General Medical Library. The transfer of data generally takes place in the case of cooperation with a service provider (e.g. data storage provider, IT support, library software provider). In any case, the transfer of data does not relieve the transferor of responsibility for data processing. Data may also be transferred to public authorities if they are authorised to do so by the applicable legislation and submit an appropriate request, but never otherwise.
We will process personal data for a limited period of time in accordance with the Personal Data Retention Policy implemented.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict the processing of your personal data, the right to object to further processing (where the processing is based on the legitimate interest of the controller), the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of personal data concerning you violates the General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016.
Your provision of personal data may be voluntary or due to a legal obligation on our part.
What are cookies?
Cookies (so-called „cookies”) are IT data, in particular text files, which are stored on the Portal User's terminal equipment and are intended for the use of the Portal's websites. As a rule, cookies contain the name of the website they come from, the time they are stored on the end device and a unique number.
For what purpose are cookies used?
Cookies are used to collect information related to the User's use of the Website.
Cookies make it possible, in particular, to :
a) maintaining a session of the Service User (after logging in), thanks to which the User does not have to re-enter his/her login and password on each sub-page of the Service;
b) adapting the content of the Website pages to User preferences and optimising the use of the websites; in particular, these files allow for recognition of the Website User's device and appropriate display of the website, adapted to his/her individual needs;
(c) to compile statistics which help us to understand how Website Users use the websites, so that we can improve their structure and content.
What types of cookies are used?
The Website uses two main types of cookies: „session” (session cookies) and „permanent” (persistent cookies). „Session” cookies are temporary files that are stored on the User's terminal equipment until they log off, leave the website or switch off the software (web browser). „Persistent” cookies are stored on the User's terminal equipment for the time specified in the parameters of the cookies or until they are deleted by the User.
The following types of cookies are used within the scope of the Website:
a) „necessary” cookies to enable the use of the services available on the Website, e.g. authentication cookies used for services requiring authentication on the Website;
(b) „performance” cookies, enabling the collection of information on how the Website's pages are used;
(c) „functional” cookies, which allow „remembering” the User's chosen settings and personalising the User interface.
How can the conditions for storing or accessing cookies be changed ?
In many cases, the web browsing software (web browser) allows cookies to be stored on the User's terminal device by default. Users of the Website may change their settings regarding cookies at any time. These settings can be changed in particular in such a way as to block the automatic handling of cookies in the settings of a web browser or inform on their each time placing in the equipment of a User of the Service.
