Vacuum fumigation - disinfection and disinsectisation of archive and museum collections
We offer professional vacuum fumigation services for the effective disinfection and disinfestation of sensitive objects. We specialise in the protection of cultural heritage and materials requiring safe, controlled methods of microbial and pest control.
Scope of fumigation
We fumigate, among other things:
- archive and file material,
- documents and library collections,
- museum exhibits,
- other movable objects requiring specialised protection.
Modern infrastructure and security
We have a specialised infrastructure equipped with an ETO threshold detection system, integrated with supply and exhaust ventilation. This ensures full process control and the highest safety standards for people, facilities and the environment.
How does the fumigation process work?
Receiving a charge
The objects go to the „dirty” warehouse, where they are prepared for the fumigation process.
Vacuum fumigation
A negative pressure of approximately 100 mbar is generated in the chamber.
This is followed by disinfection with S-9 gas (EtO 9%, CO₂ 91%) for 36-48 hours at an ethylene oxide concentration of 150-200 mg/dm³.
Quarantine
After fumigation, the batch is placed in „clean” storage for 5-7 days, under controlled conditions: temperature 16-18°C, relative humidity 45-55% RH.
Effectiveness of fumigation
Our treatments effectively eliminate:
- paper-destroying fungi, including Penicillium, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Alternaria, Chaetomium and others,
- all stages of archival and museum insects, such as the sugar fish beetle (Lepisma saccharina), the house knocker (Anobium punctatum), the colon chafer (Attagenus pellio), the breadfruit beetle (Stegobium paniceum), moths (Tineidae), rodents (Psocoptera) and others.
Quality assurance and compliance
We carry out fumigation treatments in accordance with applicable law and human and animal health safety standards, while respecting the environment.
The process is carried out using modern technical facilities, subject to independent quality control, and the fumigation chamber is regularly serviced.
After fumigation, we offer the possibility to perform independent microbiological tests, which further confirm the effectiveness of the process.
